Many thanks to the folks at  Severn Trent Water for facilitating this camera's location at Fladbury Sewage Pumping Station and to Worcestershire County Council  for capitally funding its installation.  The Mill Bank Road often floods when the River Avon is in full spate. Please click here for flooding information regarding this location.Fladbury, a village with a rich history dating back almost 1,000 years, is prominently mentioned in the Domesday Book. Situated on the banks of the River Avon, it boasts a collection of fascinating and original buildings and features. On the opposite bank of the Avon lies Cropthorne village, and these two ancient communities are connected by the Jubilee Bridge, visible in the camera's shot.At the heart of Fladbury village stands the church of St John the Baptist. This historic place of worship has been a center of Christian devotion since monks settled here in 691 AD, following a grant of land by Ethelred, King of Mercia, to Oftfor, the then Bishop of Worcester. The original Saxon structure erected by the monks no longer exists, and the present church building dates back to the 12th century, with remnants of its Norman-era tower base. Notable renovations were undertaken during the Victorian era, contributing to its current appearance. The tower proudly houses a set of eight bells, which were rehung on a new frame in 1991.Within the church, a significant monument exists in the form of a large altar tomb. This tomb serves as the final resting place of Sir John Throckmorton of Throckmorton Manor, a renowned statesman who passed away on April 12, 1445. His interment in Fladbury Church adds to the historical significance of the area.
